Hey Guys! I just bought this babies this tuesday and I must say, the feel to them is quite amazingg!!! There are a couple issues that bug me a bit, like not being able to shorten a loop (4,2,1,1/2.1/4,1/8) and the digital distortion that happens with master tempo and sometimes without it.... The guy i bought them from has never upgraded them, they are both v1.7's. What will the V2.3 bring or fix in comparison to the 1.7? Any help? Also, what do you guys recommend in order to enhance my experience with these wonderful decks? Thank you guys!

First off welcome to the forum. My advice to you is read all the threads and do searches for your questions. All the things you have asked has been discussed in great detail. You will even find the firmware update and how to install as well as the SD card size requirement and the method to format the SD card before use to install the firmware. If worse comes to worse just ask and we will either give you the thread location or respond to your question. When you get a chance post pics of your setup in the gallery and once again welcome.

Hi Blazin_AzteK,

The 2.4 firmware will fix to a great extent the digital distortion when not in master tempo.  Unfortunately the master tempo distortion will always be there unless you are using DVS.  Loop cutting is not featured on the DZs.  There was a member that had a degree on programming and he was going to look into creating a bootleg firmware.  Unfortunately he has stopped visiting the site which leads me to believe that he could not figure it out.  I wish I had the know how to create a bootleg firmware as I think there are many locked and hidden features within like direct SD use without proprietary hardware & software and 320kbps capability.

I agree completely with the comments above...I too beleive that the DZ's are one proper firmware upgrade from being perfect. It would be amazing if someone could come up with a bootleg firmware that opened up so much more capability.

Personally  beleive that if Technics have given up on the unit and the idea of cdj's altogether they should allow the firmware into the public domain. Just because they've given up on it doesnt mean we have.

Has anybody ever petitioned Technics on this matter? Because if we put our heads together we might be able to get them to release the code or the software. I think a MK2 may be asking a bit much and to be honest..is one required? Not with the right programming.

I agree.  With the right software changes, there's no need for a MK2.  The problem is that I'm pretty sure Japan is behind the code and I really doubt they'll release it.  Our only hope is for an insider to do this.

I was a visitor until today,reading post for tips and tricks . I used all the tips and successfully upgraded the firmware as well as loaded SD cards with music. Thanks Guys.
