Right it may be futile but i'm trying...

Hello Boys and Girls,
I hope non of you mind but I thought this may be worth a try. It will probably fall on stoney ground but as my Grandad always said, "If you dont ask the answer is always no." I did search to see if you'd done this before, i found nothing so if you have I apologise.
I was thinking of perhaps setting up a petition to get this done. Im afraid i forgot to ask about SD direct play but I will should I receive a response. O f course if there's anything else you can think of i will of course add it.
As I've said I'm not expecting a great deal from this but its got to be worth a try.

This is the Email I sent..perhaps we should all just bombard them into submission.. Grin

Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing in regard to your now discontinued Technics SLDZ-1200 DJ CD player.
This is a plea from the entire community of devotee's of this fantastic machine. To put it bluntly we need upgraded software for the units as they fall short of the competition such as mp3's that play at 320kbps, A distortion free scratch especially noticable during pitch lock. The ability to adjust the loop start/stop would be a bonus too.
We who love this machine wish that this unit had been more successfull and was still in production,A mk2 with a waveform display wouldve been simply awesome. However we realise this is highly unlikely so here I am. The fact is the unit only needs software to be near perfect.
There are several options I can think of, one is for yourselves to iron out the issues and sell the upgrade as a "MK2" upgrade. Another is to allow users to upgrade by releasing the code. (in case your really not interested in persuing the market) 3 would be a Proper MK2,
There are thousands of people still using the DZ and coping with its shortfalls, this must show you how much we ADORE the unit..the pioneer feels like a mere toy in comparison. Please take hold of the DJ market again...we DJ's need you!
I really hope to get a response from you on this matter as its very close to a LOT of peoples hearts.
Thankyou so very much for your time and patience with me, hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Right it may be futile but i'm trying...

I wanted to comment on this earlier. I know in the past we tried to petition at least twice. Never hurts to try again. One thing you have to understand is the business mind set of Japan. The amount of money they make from Technics is nothing to what they make with Panasonic. They will look at what makes better buisness sense and pursue that. With all the tradition and the way they produce products, petitions will have little effect on them. Yes we caqn try, but traditions and business as it pertains to the current economy is what they will look at before upgrading and improving old products.

Im thinking find some figures of how much other CDJ companies are making annually, then ask them how much technics is making?

If they see $$ then they may change their mind. Keep in mind none of these businesses are in it out of love - they are here to get paid!
Show them the money & they may change there tune...so to speak  Wink

Like I said Japan is very business oriented, so if they don't think it makes good business sense they won't bother with it.

Yeah I think what maladjusted said may be a good way, To show them the money. There must be something in it because Pioneer cant be doing too bad...a grand a pop!...immoral in my opinion.
But to be honest what I'd like to do is get them to release the code if they're really not that bothered. That way we could continually update and maybe even customise?
I'm still wondering if theres a genius who could decypher the code...way beyond me though. We need to hunt down a whizzkid for that task.

Re: Right it may be futile but i'm trying...

The "problem" with them re-releasing or updating the DZ is that it was discontinued a few years ago, & they (DZs) didnt leave the industry with a good name. Not many ppl
know what they are, & most who do think it's a joke - & there's the problem; not only does panasonic need to invest R&D money into a revised unit, but it will need to spend
an awful lot in marketing & re-education the industry. They may not see it as a financially worth while cause...which is a shame but the fact remains - there was never enough
demand (in panasonics eyes) for the DZ.
A few hundred, or even thousand ppl on the internet are not enough. Find out how many units Pioneer ship...

Again, money talks - that in my opinion is the only thing that will get panasonic to re-consider...
